Kort om Advanced Development Economics

a) Can you give an example of a problem you go through in the course?
We will study why some countries and regions of the world are so rich and others so poor; and we will ask for example how did the inequalities we see today start to take form when we look at that in a historical perspective, why did some countries and regions embark on a path of sustained economic development hundreds of years ago while others seem to still have difficulties in taking off, why are some of the economic inequalities we see in the process of development so persistent over time. We will address these type of questions by looking at aspects that shape and contribute to the dynamics of development from a macro perspective.

b) Are there any courses it would be an advantage to pass before this?
Courses in the line of macroeconomics, econometrics and development at the BA level give an advantage for this course.

c) Does this course give you abilities to join other courses?
Yes for example courses in economic history, other advanced development courses and econometrics.

Yes, for example the courses mentioned above, or relevant seminars (øvelser) in the areas of development, macro, policies, or institutions.
