Junior Depositary Officer

Embankment is building a new standard in fund services. Tech-powered depositary and fund administration for Europe’s alternative investment funds.

As a Junior Depositary Officer (Student), you’ll work part-time alongside your studies, taking on real responsibilities that build a strong foundation for a career in the field with structured training and mentorship from experienced colleagues every step of the way. It’s a rare chance to build real knowledge of alternative investment funds and private asset classes such as private equity, real estate and infrastructure, while applying AI-supported tools early in your career.

About the role

A depositary provides independent oversight of alternative investment funds by monitoring compliance with applicable regulations and investment mandates, verifying ownership of fund assets, overseeing the calculation of fund value (NAV), and monitoring cash flows.

You’ll support our Depositary team in the day-to-day oversight and control of alternative investment funds. Working under the guidance of experienced colleagues and within a regulated control framework, you’ll learn the core depositary controls and help ensure funds are administered accurately and in line with their regulatory and contractual obligations. It’s a hands-on role designed to grow your skills: you’ll start with well-defined tasks and take on more as you develop.

What you’ll do

  • Support the team in monitoring funds by reviewing transactions and cash flows
  • Help perform core depositary controls, such as ownership verification and safekeeping checks, under supervision
  • Support checks on the Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations
  • Gather and organise documentation, and help keep records accurate and up to date
  • Contribute to documentation and reporting for fund managers
  • Flag anything unusual or unclear to experienced colleagues
  • Support process improvement as we scale and modernise the depositary function, including our use of automation and AI-supported tools

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for a structured, detail-oriented student with a genuine interest in finance and regulation. No prior industry experience is required. The right mindset and eagerness to learn matter most.

You should:

  • Currently be studying your last year of bachelor’s degree in economics, law, finance or a related field
  • Have strong attention to detail and organised working habits
  • Be proactive and motivated to learn
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Be open and curious about using AI as part of your daily work

It’s a plus if you:

  • Have knowledge or experience in alternative investment funds, financial regulation or fintech

Why work with us?

As a Junior Depositary Officer, you will get:

  • Exposure to alternative investment funds and private asset classes - private equity, real estate, infrastructure and more
  • Real-world experience working with live fund data in a growing fintech
  • Structured training and mentorship from experienced colleagues
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools to real data, with active training along the way
  • An ambitious, informal team where learning, quality and continuous improvement are part of everyday work
  • Genuine opportunities to grow, many of our people build long-term careers here

Working hours are approximately 18.5 hours per week, with flexibility around your studies and exam periods.
