Quantitative Research Analyst for Crypto Hedge Fund

Crypto Hedge Fund - Copenhagen/remote - permanent - part time

With the rise of crypto, we are witnessing a historic event - the birth of a completely new asset class. Over just the last four years, crypto has evolved from an embryonic $50B market to a young-but-growing $2T market today.

Nighthawk is the temporary project name for a new multi-asset Crypto Hedge Fund based in Copenhagen. We are currently working in stealth mode with an expected launch at the end of 2021.

Our goal is to build a strong quantitative hedge fund focused on crypto assets covering CeFi and DeFi. Nighthawk aims to offer investors consistent and high returns with almost no correlation to traditional financial assets. This is done through different arbitrage and quant trading strategies. The trading strategies vary greatly in terms of sophistication ranging from simple (e.g. mean reversion) to more complex machine learning based trading strategies.

We have a market-neutral mandate and use strategies that allow us to thrive in both bull and bear markets, particularly when volumes and volatility are high.

Nighthawk is backed by venture capital from previous start-up founders, and our team's capabilities cover traditional finance, data science / machine learning, quantitative trading, financial regulation and software development.

While being in an early stage, Nighthawk is already an active participant in the crypto market managing its own funds, while simultaneously working on securing regulatory approval, expanding client base, and further building out trading systems. We are a small team that love what we do, and love working together.

We are looking to hire a quantitative research analyst (student job) that wants to take on critical responsibilities to help us scale and deliver value to our future clients. You will have the opportunity to develop your own trading algorithms and strategies, while getting advice and guidance from senior traders and developers, including the founders. You should expect to get a lot of independence and responsibility right away, and to learn at an unprecedented speed!

What You Will Do

  • Perform quantitative investment research in collaboration with the rest of the team
  • Formulate trading strategies based on the quantitative research
  • Maintain a tight pulse on the technical innovation in the crypto market
  • Independently run and manage various analytics such as backtesting of trading strategies, risk analysis and PnL attribution - strong quantitative acumen will be required
  • Update critical business materials such as sales presentations and investor material
  • Learn and understand the fundamentals of the firm's investment strategies
  • We are a small organisation, hence you will wear many hats, contribute to many projects, and have to adapt to the needs of a growing organization. Other potential tasks if matched by your skills;
    • Implement trading strategies and follow-up on risk / return
    • Support building the trading platform

Previous experience with crypto is not a requirement, but an advantage. Likewise, knowledge of financial markets, data science and programming is a strong advantage. We are coders by heart hence programming is a key ingredient in everything we do.

Perks and benefits

  • Strong focus on mentoring from senior staff
  • Gain experience with quantitative trading and crypto assets
  • Flexible working hours
