A.T. Kearney’s Women’s Career Lounge is set up to
break away from this mold in providing time to talk in an environment (mostly) freed
for “death by buzzwords” presentations. In the words of Heidi Østergaard, a student
of economics at KU and participant at 2013 event: “A.T. Kearney’s Women’s Career Lounge is two days of fun and challenges
in the company of excellent females with no-nonsense discussions of the
challenges and opportunities related to a career in consulting. The days were
filled with opportunities to develop competences further and social activities
such as case solving, power walking in the snow, and panel debates with career
women”
I know where Heidi is coming from. Three years ago, I participated in A.T. Kearney’s Women’s Career Lounge and one year ago I joined A.T. Kearney. To me, the event played an important role in deciding on my future direction by 1) providing me with the fact base needed to decide on whether or not to pursue a career in consulting and by 2) allowing me to meet other inspiring women across the Nordics. Heidi confirms my experience: “The event gave me a unique opportunity to explore what consulting really is by giving me a taste of the different tools used to structure and solve complex problems. To us at KU, presentation and case solving techniques are a bit more exotic than to the average CBS student. In that sense, I really learned something by seeing examples of how a case interview takes place and also just in talking to some of the other students”
Having taken classes on statistics, I know that a sample of two does not make for a convincing argument. Therefore, I strongly urge you to test my argument that A.T. Kearney’s Women’s Career Lounge will help you to better understand if consulting is where your future lies and will provide you with two days of fun in the company of some of the Nordics’ brightest females.
