Doing Business In India 2013

Doing Business In is a yearly study trip and case competition, arranged in cooperation between Djøf, Novozymes and The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). This year’s destination is India, the world’s biggest democracy.

30 students from diverse backgrounds in e.g. economics or engineering will be selected to participate in the trip. The chosen students get to spend two weeks in India with an intense mix of company visits, workshops and social experiences. They will have to build a strong understanding of the macro-economic factors affecting the industry, as well as environmental and cultural implications for a Danish company operating in a culturally different and often challenging environment.

India is the second most populous country in the world. It is the world’s 10th biggest economy by nominal GDP, but the 3rd biggest by purchasing power parity. It is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and offers a big business potential for international companies. We will visit Bangalore, the information technology hub of India where Novozymes have their Indian headquarters, and Mumbai, the most populous city of India as well as the commercial and financial centre of the country.

Before the trip, the students will spend one day at Novozymes learning about the current business model and potential within the enzyme business. They subsequently spend a day in the BCG office in Copenhagen, getting trained in problem solving and presentation techniques. Towards the end of the trip, the students will be presented to a 24-hour case concerning a challenge for Novozymes in India. The case is solved in teams and presented to a panel of executives from the two companies, once back in Denmark.

The trip will provide a look into doing business abroad and the enzyme industry, as well as valuable tools taught by BCG. It is also a unique opportunity to meet students from different backgrounds and has traditionally been a great launching pad for starting a career in BCG or Novozymes. Most of all, we want to make the trip as insightful, social and fun as possible, Last year, 96,7% (29/30) of the student’s had a “very positive” overall impression of the trip, and 100% (30/30) “would recommend the trip to fellow students”.

We are looking for talented and ambitious students, with a drive to contribute to the team and make this year’s the trip a lifetime experience. You preferably have an interest in doing business in a foreign country and in either of our sponsoring companies. We are mainly looking for master students, but 3rd year bachelor students with something extra to offer, are welcome to apply as well.

The application deadline is November 26th, 2012
