Dear members and supporters of EWB...

In the Steering Committee of EWB we are now done with last semester’s exams and it is time to break the past months of silence. With more time on our hands and refreshed energy, we are eager to start working on our projects again.

Our membership keeps growing every day for which we are very grateful. One of our hopes for this semester is to include more of you members in both the management of the organization and the consultancy work that we do for NGO’s and projects.

If you find this interesting, then play close attention to the following!

We have listed a bunch of open positions that we would like you to consider taking up. If you are interested in any of the positions, then write an e-mail to contact@economistswithoutborders.net, where you state which position you are interested in and a few words about yourself. Deadline is the 17th of February 2012.

For the members living in Denmark
The organization is primarily based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and this is where our activities take place.

Wanted: Steering Committee Members.
We want to invite more people to join the Steering Committee. This is the place where the day-to-day management of the organization is taken care of and where long term action plans are made. The committee consists of people who want to set their mark on the future development of the organization. Being a member involves attending frequent meetings, taking responsibility and sharing your ideas with the rest of us.

With regards to education and age, we see diversification as strength. Therefore we would encourage new and old students of all social sciences to join the Steering Committee.

Wanted: Action Aid Economic Consultant.
We continue to have a close collaboration with Action Aid Denmark (Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke), and we are looking for someone to be responsible for all communication with them.

We are looking for a bright student who can teach the basic principles of economics. Your teaching will be used in youth campaigns displayed in Denmark.

Work burden: Approximately 2 hours pr. week.

Wanted: Web manager.
Are you fond of web page management, you now have the opportunity to administrate www.economistwithoutborders.net. We are looking for anyone who shows an interest and has the necessary expertise (no specific education demanded).

Work burden: Approximately 2 hours pr. week.

Wanted: Ambassadors from LIFE, CBS and RUC.
We are looking to expand our activities to other teaching institutions than the KU Economic Department, and we are very interested in the capabilities that the students have at LIFE, CBS and RUC. If you are a student from one of these institutions and want to help us expand, then contact us.

Wanted: Ideas and projects.
We always welcome new ideas and initiatives. If you are in possession of either of these and need a place to unfold it, then contact us.

For the members living abroad
We have received a lot of attention from students living abroad, which we very much appreciate. We regret that we have not been able to include you more in the everyday organization work. But despite the meaning in the name of our organization, we must admit that we are limited by the geographical borders of the world.

We would off course like to support any initiative taken by members living abroad. So if you have an idea for a project or you want to start up a local branch of Economists Without Borders, then you should definitely contact us. Also if you know already existing projects or NGO’s that need economic consultancy. Then we will help you as much as we can.

Furthermore we are working on making more Danish students do internships abroad. So if you know a place that would like to take in a Danish economic student for a couple of months, you are also very welcome to contact us. It is however important that the tasks offered to the intern should be of economic matter and work to benefit of the disadvantaged.

Best regards,
Ludvig Wier, Jakob Nielsen and Anne Sofie Beck Knudsen
